HISTORY

Established in 1978, Pooh Corner celebrates everything to do with Winnie the Pooh. Based in a 300 year old cottage, the building which is now known as Pooh Corner, was a little shop back in the 1920s. A young Christopher Milne alongside his nanny, Olive, and donkey, Jessica, used to visit the shop and buy Bullseye sweets.

“Subsequent trips included our weekly visit to Hartfield, a mile away along a main road, up a steep hill, down a steep hill and in at the first shop on the left hand side. Jessica (my donkey) needed no urging and the woman behind the counter no instructions. It was a pennyworth of bullseyes for each of us.” - Christopher Milne, The Enchanted Places

In January 2019, Neil and Samantha Reed bought Pooh Corner, aiming to continue in their predecessors footsteps and build on the legacy of ‘Winnie the Pooh’. In 2020, they opened the world’s first ‘Pooh-seum’, a museum dedicated to everything Winnie the Pooh. We are fortunate enough to have some very special pieces, including several original E.H. Shepard drawings, and letters by A.A. Milne and Christopher Milne.
